Eva Hudson is an English-Irish writer/director, who trained as a
playwright at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Her theatre work has been praised as ‘incredible scriptwriting [...] a deeply mesmerising watch’ (Broadway World), ‘wonderful, inventive and thought provoking’ (John Hodge, Academy Award nominated writer of
Trainspotting (1996) and ‘very touching [...] very funny when it shouldn’t be and then very beautifully tragic’ (Rebecca Lenkievicz, Academy Award winning writer of IDA (2013) and HOT MILK (2025).
Eva’s work explores blurriness, grey areas, female pain, and
communication. She is interested in building worlds which externalise the complexity of what it is to exist in a female body, what it is to be young, and work which never flattens, but asks probing, unanswerable questions.
She has written four full-length plays; 855-FOR-TRUTH recently ran for two weeks at The Hope Theatre (5* reviews, including Broadway World) and was restaged at The Bridge Theatre, Brussels, featured in The Brussels Times. Her play LIFE BEFORE YOU will tour for six weeks in 2026. Her short film I KNEW HER BEFORE SHE WAS A VIRGIN, which she wrote and directed, played at nine film festivals in 2024 and 2025, and picked up awards including Best Drama Short at Hollywood Just4Shorts Film Festival and Best Debut Filmmaker at Titan International Film Festival, Sydney. She is longlisted for the
International Playwriting Award and is selected for the Exeter
Northcott Writer Programme.
